The Undergraduate Physics Study Program (PS S1 Fisika) of the Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Lampung (Unila), was officially established and established based on Decree (SK) of the Director General of Higher Education Number 55/DIKTI/Kep/1998, dated February 23, 1998. The Physics Study Program officially accepted new students starting in the 1998/1999 academic year.

Thanks to support from various assistance programs such as HEDS, JICA, and DUE, as well as the strong commitment of all staff, in 1999, based on Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 431/DIKTI/Kep/1999, dated October 11, 1999, the Physics Study Program officially became a department.

The Physics Undergraduate Program has received international accreditation from ASIIN, valid from December 8, 2023, to September 30, 2029. This study program is offered as a full-time program and is aligned with Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL).

Furthermore, based on LAMSAMA Decree Number: 114/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/XI/2024, the Physics Study Program at the University of Lampung Undergraduate Program has been declared to meet the requirements for the "Excellent" rating, with an accreditation period of five years, from November 11, 2024, to November 10, 2029.
